With ClinicOffice v5 Startup and Professional there is a known issue where the file “EDBDatabase.EDBCat” becomes corrupt. This file is stored within your database folder but it DOES NOT store any data, it only contains information about the database structure.
When this file “EDBDatabase.EDBCat” corrupts it will throw an error that will say something like “#9999 Out of Memory“. The steps below can help to fix this issue.
- Make sure that ClinicOffice is fully closed and press the Windows and R keys together.
- Type “services.msc” without quotes and click OK. This will open the Services window.
- Locate the service called, “ClinicOffice EDB Server“, right-click on it and select Stop.
- Locate your database folder, which is usually in the C:\COv5_Data folder and open this folder up.
- Locate the corrupt “EDBDatabase.EDBCat” file, right-click on it and select Rename (Windows 11 select Show More Options > Rename).
- Name it to something like “EDBDatabase.EDBCat.corrupt“.
- There may be a “EDBDatabase.EDBCat.Old” in the same folder, if so rename this by removing the “.old” so that it looks like “EDBDatabase.EDBCat“.
- Go back to the Services window mentioned in point two. Locate the “ClinicOffice EDB Server“, right-click on it and select Start.
All being well this will resolve the issue when you start using ClinicOffice again.
