KeymasterIf you have quite a lot of computers running ClinicOffice v4, it is sometimes best to disable the automatic update checking on each PC (apart from perhaps the Administrator’s computer so that they can be notified when an update is available).
Here’s how to disable automatic update checking :-
[1] From ClinicOffice v4, click the TOOLS tab
[2] Click the little ‘tag’ button at the bottom right of the Check for Program Updates button (see below)
[3] Now untick the box which says Automatically check for updates on startup
[4] Click OKRepeat these steps for each computer to disable the automatic update checking. Please note that this setting ONLY affects the automatic check which occurs when the program starts up. Users can still click the Check for Program Updates button to manually check for updates.
July 15, 2010 at 9:30 pm #32491Hi,
Why would this be a good thing to do?
If my staff updated their own computers, wouldn’t that be ideal?
Also, to disable this option, would i have to do it on all computers?
Thanks

Keymaster>>Why would this be a good thing to do?
Imagine a clinic with 20 computers on a busy morning. A staff member switches on their PC and sees an auto-update message and decides to update their ClinicOffice. In turn this update modified the database structure, so all the other computers are now forced to run the update right away so that they can work with the updated database. For larger clinics, this can cause inconvenience and many clinic administrators like to be able to control when to update all their computers.

That’s correct. As stated in the FAQ :-Repeat these steps for each computer to disable the automatic update checking
July 16, 2010 at 7:15 am #32493Thanks for that – that makes sense now. It also explains why some computers didn’t work unless we updated to 1057 first…!!!
Cheers
