Full Dropbox integration was added with the release of ClinicOffice v6. What this means is that you can nominate Dropbox to store all attached documents and images. This includes all files within the patient’s document area and clinical notes. The integration is seamless and makes it feel like the files are stored within the ClinicOffice although technically they are on Dropbox.

To enable the Dropbox integration within the program, go to the View menu > Program Settings > Global Settings > Doc Storage Setup.

From here click the Login to Dropbox button. From there, enter your login details and click to sign into your Dropbox account.

      Q) After logging into Dropbox, I can no longer see my documents within ClinicOffice! What has happened and how do I fix it?

If you have been using ClinicOffice to store documents prior to logging into Dropbox, don’t panic, your documents are still there but ClinicOffice is looking at Dropbox rather than the documents stored in ClinicOffice. What you can do is export these documents directly to your Dropbox account. This way the documents and images will reappear for those patients. The steps below will guide you through this:

      1. Go to a machine that has Dropbox running on it and in the main Dropbox folder create a new folder named “ClinicOffice_Docs” (without the quotes)
      2. Connect and log in to ClinicOffice
      3. Go to the Doc Storage Setup screen (using the previous instructions above)
      4. Click the blue link that says, “Utility functions…” (bottom left) and select “Extract from Database -> File System
      5. Locate your ClinicOffice_Docs folder in Dropbox and click OK
      6. If you are certain you are exporting to the correct folder, click Yes on the following two message
      7. Type Yes and OK if you are happy with everything

Depending on how many attachments you have, the export could take up to a few hours to complete. Please make sure that your computer does not switch off or go into sleep mode while this happens. Below are a couple of articles on how to prevent your machine from doing this.
