      Tablet Hardware Requirements For E-Docs

A common use case for our E-Docs feature is within the Clinic waiting room setting, where the Clinic will hand the patient a tablet with a form for them to complete. It is therefore important to select a tablet that meets the hardware requirements to ensure a seamless and enjoyable user experience.

      1. RAM: A minimum of 3GB of RAM is recommended to handle the processing demands of our E-Docs feature. This is especially important for documents that require a signature. Sufficient RAM allows the tablet to multitask effectively, keeping multiple documents open simultaneously without experiencing lag or slowdowns.
      2. Storage Capacity: This is less important for E-Docs because it runs in your web browser, but we advise selecting a tablet with at least 32GB of internal storage as a guideline. Furthermore, devices with expandable storage options, such as microSD card slots, can be advantageous for additional flexibility such as if you plan on using the tablet for anything besides E-Docs.
      3. Processor: A powerful processor ensures smooth navigation and responsive performance while working with documents. Tablets equipped with quad-core or higher processors, such as Apple’s A12 Bionic chip, Samsung’s Exynos series, or Lenovo’s Snapdragon processors are what we would recommend.
      4. Display: Whilst this isn’t as crucial, a high-resolution display will enhance the reading and viewing experience of documents. Tablets with a minimum resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels would be the minimum that we would recommend.
      5. Price: As a general rule of thumb, we recommend setting a minimum guideline price of £150. This typically results in selecting a tablet with a satisfactory specification whilst avoiding anything under-powered.

      Recommended Tablets

Considering the minimum hardware requirements for our E-Docs feature, the following tablets from Apple, Samsung, and Lenovo offer good performance and reliability within the recommended price range:

      Apple iPad (8th Generation:)

      • RAM: 3GB
      • Storage Options: 32GB or 128GB
      • Processor: A12 Bionic chip with Neural Engine
      • Display: 10.2-inch Retina display (2160 x 1620 pixels)

Anything from apple that’s 8th generation or newer will work perfectly.

      Samsung Galaxy Tab A7:

      • RAM: 3GB
      • Storage Options: 32GB or 64GB
      • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 662
      • Display: 10.4-inch WUXGA+ display (2000 x 1200 pixels)

Anything from Samsung in the Tab A range, or especially the Galaxy range will also work perfectly.

      Lenovo Tab P11:

      • RAM: 4GB
      • Storage Options: 64GB or 128GB
      • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 662

Anything from Lenovo’s P11 range (such as the Pro, and Pro Plus) will work perfectly.
